Prenatal Vitamins

As soon as I found out I was pregnant one of the first things I did was start shopping around for the best prenatal vitamins I could find.  Prenatal vitamins are a good way to insure you get the necessary vitamins and nutrients that you may not get from diet alone.  After doing my research I came across a prenatal that I found to be a perfect match for me and my growing baby.

The prenatal vitamin I chose amongst the vast sea of prenatal vitamins on the market is by the Garden of Life called Vitamin Code, Raw Prenatal.

Here are few reasons why this is my prenatal vitamin of choice:

1.  The vitamins are RAW, meaning they haven't been cooked or treated and they are dairy and gluten free.

2.  I wasn't always the most "regular" person when it came to bowl movements so the fact that this vitamin has probiotics is awesome.  The probiotics helps support a healthy immune system as well as keeps me regular.

3.  Ginger!  During my first trimester, morning sickness really kicked in with nausea and indigestion.  I did notice that I felt a little better when taking this prenatal as it did help with the unsettled stomach.

4. Also, the fact that you can take this prenatal on an empty stomach is a winner for me.  Although you have to take 3 capsules a day you don't have to take them 3 times a day.  Sometimes if I forget to take them through out the day, I'll just take all three capsules at night before I go to bed. 

Some may feel that the cost of this prenatal is a little bit on the pricey side.  I purchased a 90 capsule bottle from Whole Foods for $39.99.  The daily dose is 3 capsules a day so the 90 capsule bottle lasts about a month.  I have found other sources online that offer these vitamins at a discounted rate.  If I plan accordingly I may try to make my next purchase online at a lower price.
